As you know, if it's not the direct cause, poor communication still plays a major role in almost every problem. A spirit of collaboration with sustained, open communication from university administration to the rest of the campus - and world - is sure to greatly heal and advance NC State. As an active alum with some marketing experience, I'm looking forward to the upcoming changes in university communications, branding, etc. It will be interesting to see where it goes with your experience and guidance, paired with the talent of communications staff and volunteers you mention in the plan. The lists of committee volunteers in the plan appear to cover a broad range of expertise from within the university. However, I feel strongly that part of NC State's recent problems stem from its somewhat insular environment. At times, it seems the perspective from within the university is very different from the people it looks to for outside support. In order to further broaden the scope of expertise for State COMM, may I suggest including alumni from outside the university on the planning committee? It seems their perspective - the perspective of a lot of your target audience - might be all that's missing from your diverse group. First, thanks for sharing.
