I totally agree with going non-traditional. We live in a world where newspapers are folding and people are getting all their information on the web and through iPhone apps (that's where I get my news straight from AP, NYTimes, etc. as well as my weather and sports info), so we cannot afford to hang out in the past. I agree with Keith, too, that it is the opportunity to track our success.

Among the advantages that approach gives us is ready access to analytics -- an easy way to tell whether we're reaching the audience. Beyond formal or informal surveys, most of our traditional tools don't give us opportunity for that kind of tracking. And many of us don't have the $ to conduct surveys.
